What is Uric acid ?

Uric acid is a heterocyclic  compound of carbon , nitrogen , oxygen and  hydrogen  with molecular formula  C5H4N4O3 .

It   forms ions and salts,known as urates and acid urates. Such as ammonium acid urates .


What is the cause of uric acid ?

Uric acid is a product of the metabolic break down of purine nucleotides,and it is a normal component of urine. The main source of purine are different types of plants and animals food.

Some fish, sea food and shellfish, including anchovies,sardines, herring, mussels, codfish , scallops, trout , mushrooms, mackerel and haddock .


Some meats , such as bacon , turkey, veal, venison and organ meats like liver.

Symptoms of uric acid.


High blood concentrations of uric acid can lead to gout. Gout is also called ‘gouty arthritis’. Gout is a painful form of arthritis caused by too much uric acid in the body.

The painful flare-ups may be concentrated in the big toe as well as swelling and pain in the ankles, knees, feet, wrists or elbows.


Besides, blood concentrations of uric acid can lead to gout and are associate with other medical conditions, including diabetes and the formation of ammonium acid urate kidney stones.
