What are the different types of air pollution and their sources?
Due to man-made and natural causes, the levels of various gaseous elements in the air such as carbon monoxide (CO), sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), ozone (O3) lead (Pb), particulatesmatter etc., increase more than their safe levels.
The presence of
these gaseous elements is the main cause of air pollution. So there are
different types of air pollution.
The Environmental Protection Agency of the United States federal
government identified mainly six types
of air pollution.
- Air pollution due to carbon monoxide
- Air pollution for sulfur dioxide
- Air pollution due to nitrogen dioxide
- Air pollution for ozone gas
- Air pollution due to particulates matter
- Air pollution for lead
